PREREQUISITES:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, integrated marketing communications, electronic media, strategic communication, print journalism, or a related discipline.
CORE COMPETENCIES:
Experience: Minimum five years’ work experience in marketing and public relations required, including at least two years managing a marketing program or department for an organization.
Experience must also include: developing and administering a comprehensive marketing/public relations program, market research, implementing online communications strategies, working with social media, supervising people (either paid staff or volunteers) and public speaking.
Knowledge: Knowledge of marketing and public relations fundamentals. Knowledge of social media tools as used for marketing and public relations. Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods, including alternative ways to inform via written, oral, social and visual media. Knowledge of graphic design, including but not limited to typography, illustration, photography, book design, advertising, computer graphics, design, and drawing. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows and Mac-based computer applications.
Skills: Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate clearly, both orally, in writing, and including active listening skills and social perceptiveness. Polished presentation and interpersonal skills. Self-starter, highly organized with exceptional planning, prioritizing and attention to detail skills. Strong leadership and consensus building skills. Articulate, poised and genuine.
Abilities: Must be able to express a high level of creativity and flexibility. Demonstrated ability to provide effective supervision. Must be able to work with a wide range of work styles and expectations. Must be able to collaborate, coordinate, delegate and manage activities through a diverse team of people to achieve desired results/deliverables, or project goals. Must be able to exhibit professionalism at all times.
Requires working extended hours, including evenings and weekends, when needed. Valid driver’s license.
